It was in 933 that on the night before battle as he camped with his men on a hill overlooking the current position of Milton Abbey, King Athelstan had a powerful vision that he would defeat the Scots and their allies at Brunanburh. His vision came true, helping to make him the first King of All England and legend has it he founded the Abbey in thanks.
In a special concert, we celebrate 1,000 years of the life of Milton Abbey with music that spans this period combining a number of choral favourites in a programme designed to make the most of the Abbey’s wonderful acoustic.
A complete performance of Parry’s Songs of Farewell marks a local connection – Parry was born in Bournemouth.
